Day 2
You’re never going to believe me but we woke up bright
and early, it was before 7:00 am. Steve met us at 9:00 to show us the way to
the dojo and led a small class to help us get what he calls the “oogie
boogies” out. It felt good to get moving after travelling all day yesterday.
Just as we finished up it started to rain heavily. Steve showed us around the
dojo and told us about some of the things on display around the dojo.
Nancy came to our rescue and drove us to George’s Restaurant where we had a delicious
lunch and some great conversation.
We were given directions on how to get to Kokusai Street, where we could do some shopping for some necessities, but like the true navigator that I am…I got us lost. We spent most of the rest of the day trying
to get found. Along the way we found a grocery store and decided to stop in and try to find some stuff for supper. Shopping over here is a completely different experience. We spent a lot of time trying to figure out exactly what each item was and eventually just gave up and settled on peanut butter, bread and some
chicken noodle soup. Maybe we’ll have more luck next time.
Eventually we found the street we were looking for, but were at the complete opposite end of where we wanted. I guess I zigged when I should have zagged…Ooops! We wandered down the street for a while just taking it all in. We were tired and cranky by this time and decided to just get what we needed and come back another day. We did stop to take a few pictures now and then, but we were just looking forward to getting back home and putting our feet up before class.
After a short rest it was off to class. We spent the the night working on our favorite kata’s to prepare for the demonstration at the rope festival on Sunday. I was never so hot nor so tired in my life. It was Awesome!
After that exhausting class we stopped back at the Restaurant to see if we could use the internet there. We spent the night chatting with Takeshi-san and his friend. We talked pretty much about anything and everything. What a night. By midnight we were ready to crash and headed home. What a great
second day…
Day 1 – We Made It!
We finally made it! We’re in Okinawa safe and sound. The flight was uneventful, a little bumpy by times and very very long. We had window seats the entire trip this time so we took some awesome pics along the way…
Our longest layover was in Vancouver, we stopped at Legends and grabbed a burger and fries, fired off a couple of emails and then spent some time exploring the airport. We found a huge aquarium. You know you’re tank is too big when you have to have two scuba drivers dive in to clean it…
